Review of Seven Samurai (1954) by Patrick M — 10 Apr 2012
It is not often that a film similar to this comes along, it is arguably the greatest film ever created in the 20th century. Disappointingly many people will not see this truly amazing, spellbinding and flawless piece of artwork as not very many people know it actually exists if they haven't grown up in the 1950s-1970s.
The film is the story of some Japanese farmers who are annually looted by fierce bandits. It centers around one farmer in particular, who has had enough of his constant loss of crops and decides to recruit some samurai to help his cause. After a while he has recruited some samurai and heads back to his village. The samurai who are payed in a pathetic excuse for food are all loyal to the farmers and , eventually when the bandits come for their annual invasion of the small village they are thrown off guard.
In short you should definitely see this movie if given the chance. Unmissable.
