Review of Seven Samurai (1954) by Peter A — 27 May 2013
A true cinematic classic, mostly because for an epic the film uses such a minimalist approach that the focus is squarely on the story and the characters. It looks so easy and effortless and flows so well using simple themes that it lingers on your brain.
And that's when you realize how dense the material actually is. But I won't lie, the 3+ hour run time of the full version is a turnoff to me, but the film's other great attributes more than make up for it.
