Review of Serpico (1973) by Seth M — 25 Sep 2010
Who knew that Pacino used to be able to act like someone who isn't Al Pacino? I mean really put on a clinic, conveying a subtlety of emotions that he rarely bothers to convey now-a-days.
The synopsis doesn't do the story justice, as Serpico slowly cracks under pressure that would crush any man. His optimism destroyed by bountiful evil. His life destroyed by his principles. Contrary to the happy ending that most films of this deliver, the story here is much more nuanced. Pacino's finest acting moment.
