Review of Satyricon (1969) by Mark R — 13 Nov 2008
One commentator spoke about comparing the hedonistic life of ancient Rome to modern civilization. The plot synopsis goes on to speak about Fellini passing judgment on "the emptiness of a life devoted to sensation and personal freedom," another descriptor that connects ancient Rome to that of modern society.
The graphic visuals and bizarre flitting from scene to scene is an effective social commentary.
