Review of Saturday Night Fever (1977) by Niloo R — 21 Jul 2014
A really disturbing film ... LOL. it was strange because the "dancing", which to me was a complete joke, was juxtaposed with this really dark storyline. I don't really know how I feel about that.
all the characters in this film were fucked up and creeped the shit out of me. but there were some nice moments too - especially between john travolta and karen lynn gorney. I liked the fact that she wasn't portrayed as like a perfect, lovely girl - she was just a girl who had a lot of problems and was trying to figure herself out.
I also liked the fact that they didn't end up together in the cliched way - their relationship to me was very realistic. the realism however is what made the film so disturbing.
