Review of Ryan's Daughter (1970) by Nicolas B — 24 Oct 2007
David Lean is a genius! sadly not many people know who he is today, in my opinion he was our spielberg, and this film in my view was probably his best along side "Lawrence of Arabia". John Mills steals the show, I think that his role in this is, the best example of how a human being can completely transform themselves to the point of non recognition.
I couldnt believe that Mills was the village fool. The photography completely captures how the landscape carved itself into the lives of the people who once lived there. You will need to wear a coat just to watch it.
Beautifull film.
