Review of Ryan's Daughter (1970) by Tom H — 24 Sep 2008
A epic movie centered on adultery and betrayal. the movie is set in Ireland around a small village with narrow minded people minding everyones business. especially when they found out that the school teachers(Mitchum) wife is having an affair with a British officer. visually stunning images of the Atlantic coast lines of Ireland.
Fuels the story and makes it epic and grand.
David Lean is clearly a man of great knowledge when it comes to filmmaking, in fact you could call him the "Yoda" of directors. to close of I think this picture is grossly underrated and deserves more modern day viewers who acknowledge it`s greatness. also it is very unusual to see Mitchum playing the part that he plays as his character is balanced ,positive and uniquely kind.
