Review of Rope (1948) by Rajneel S — 23 Aug 2008
An intriguing and compelling experimental film that's designed to make you think it was shot in a "single-take" is excessively talky, suffers from slow theatrical pacing and hokey production values, but is also very taut, has compelling performances and some intriguing and creepy ideas.
The film has dated terribly and Jimmy Stewart is strangely miscast, but its still compelling and arguably important...but then Hitchcock's experiments often are.
