Flashy eighties sci-fi complete with wit, social commentary and some seriously impressive weaponry. RoboCop is a great action romp best remembered for its quotable lines and surprising level of intelligence.
Providing well-paced thrills and explosive action appears to come as second nature for Dutch director Paul Verhoeven, who has never bested his film here. More than two decades on it still plays nicely, hence you can expect a remake any day now.
