Review of Road to Perdition (2002) by S Christian R — 22 Jun 2010
Typical Sam Mendes project. Brilliant cinematography, attention given to every shot & backed by very strong performances from the entire ensemble. Hanks as a hitman is great. Jude Law's character was far too similar to Wes Bentley's character in 'American Beauty'.
They're both photographers. They're both criminals. They're both the reason for the sad ending in each film. Paul Newman is good, but I felt the most underrated performance was from Daniel Craig.
The look on his face after Newman blasts him in front of everyone was chilling. And it's great when Hanks shoots him in the bathtub.
