Review of Rebel Without a Cause (1955) by Penny L — 07 Jan 2012
There is just something about old Hollywood movies that I love. At points you can tell that this movie is definitely dated but the story in general is perfect for any decade. Any teenager could relate to this movie in some way or another. Personally, I love coming-of-age stories (Super 8, E.T., American Graffiti, Almost Famous, Stand By Me, etc.) and this is a perfect one. Some scenes the directing is just beautiful and it almost seems mystical.
This movie is a character study as well and how sometimes, at any age, you have to do what is right not what is easy. The three main characters are all rebels without a cause, living in a perfect suburbia, just what the 1950s were. Overall, this movie is perfect in my book.
