Review of Rebel Without a Cause (1955) by Zoi K — 12 Dec 2015
Rebel Without A Cause is about a young man who has a lot of anger and passion, but no way to express his discontent and in a lot of ways the movie feels like that too. The movie has plenty of energy and lots of crazy things happen, but some of the scenes make no sense and others do but have no reason.
I didn't realize it while I was watching the movie, but James Dean and the film itself are a reflection of the struggle to become an adult and self discovery. Sometimes you do run around with your head cut off and do stuff for no reason and you have the passion and the energy but aren't sure yet how to use it and that's what this movie felt like.
Lost, complicated and reckless, just like high school.
