Review of Rashomon (1950) by Katarzyna W — 10 Oct 2009
An excellent journey into the nature of truth. Trapped together sheltering from the rain a group of travellers hear the story of a young couple being attacked while wandering through the woods. A similar story is retold from the perspective of each of the people involved.
Each person shifting blame building themself up the be more noble than the rest. What really happened ? We will never know. How much can we know an event we don't whitness ? Rashomon plays with this theme expertly and is one af those rare movies that engages the audience in a dialogue, entertaining and posing questions.
Akira kurosawa on top form again, light years ahead of its time.
