Review of Rampage (2018) by John A — 13 Apr 2018
Take one of the most popular video games of all time, take one of the most popular wrestlers/action stars of all time and make a movie = Rampage. Sure its not Shakespeare but it is a really fun popcorn flick and they embodied the essence of the video game really well.
The actors chew up the scenery as much as George, Lizzie, and Ralph chew up Chicago. The Story is actually pretty well thought out and they even throw in a cameo by Rhett the Rat which is pretty cool if you are a Rampage video game fan.
The rock is always like-able even in some of the turkeys he has been in. He is believable as a Primatologist worried about his friend George who has been accidentally transformed by experimental genetic enhancements.
Jeffery Dean Morgan (playing Good Negan) is equally fun to watch as he deftly slips the one liners from his lips as a Federal agent from one of those hush hush secret government agencies, who learns the hard way to smell what the Rock is cooking.
The visual effects and characteristics of the terrible trio Rampage monsters is spot on in my opinion, It pretty much had everything I loved about the game represented. This is a popcorn flick to be sure and I give it four fresh tomatoes out of five.
