Barry Levinson's best-picture winner proves to be one of the most realistic and poignant films I've ever seen, with a powerfully understanding screenplay, lush film editing, timely camerawork, an emotionally resonant yet stunning turn from Dustin Hoffman, and an underrated classic performance from Tom Cruise himself we haven't seen in a while.
