Review of Quatermass and the Pit (1967) by Reg A — 17 Feb 2010
Hammer movie-making at its best. Workmen digging a London Underground (subway) tunnel discover a mettalic object which the myopic military claims is an experimental German WWII bomb which has failed to detonate.
Other scientists, notably Professor Bernard Quatermass (Andrew Keir) believe it is an alien spaceship which could be a demonic source of power. A classic thought-provoking film, which is one of my favourites.
