Review of Punch-Drunk Love (2002) by Mloy X — 22 Dec 2011
I don't know what it is about Adam Sandler but I do like (almost) all his films and yes, especially the art-house-esque stuff like "Spanglish" (loved that!) and "Reign Over Me" (awesome).
This was no different. The furious pace leaves you dizzyingly breathless trying to catch up to the roller-coaster of cascading events but it's the kind of wild, wicked ride you don't want to get off of.
It's not the best art-house flick I've seen and there is really nothing mind-blowingly profound about it but there is this strange quirkiness to the story, like some guilty pleasure, which makes the film oddly satisfying.
I don't know why but I seriously do like it, surprisingly so.
