Review of Punch-Drunk Love (2002) by The3Academysins — 21 Oct 2019
An underrated gem from Paul Thomas Anderson, Punch Drunk Love does a nearly perfect job of exploring loneliness and love. Adam Sandler gives an awesome dramatic performance as Barry Egan, a depressed, socially anxious businessman who is out of tune with his own life.
Emily Watson breaks my heart in this movie, and her charisma just jumps right off the screen. Phillip Seymour Hoffman plays a great villain, and there honestly is not one weak link in the cast. The use of color and lighting in the cinematography is stunning.
