Review of Punch-Drunk Love (2002) by Will P — 26 Aug 2018
I had a feeling Adam Sandler is capable of doing comedies without resorting to some of the lowbrow schtick he is known for but man, he swung to the other side of the spectrum with this. This is certainly not a comedy, more like a drama, and a complex one at that.
Emily Watson lights up every scene she is in and Philip Seymour Hoffman is at his sleazy best but Sandler's ticking time-bomb performance is what holds the whole thing together. A little slow moving at times but that's forgiven.
