Review of PTU (2003) by Jeremy P — 04 Apr 2008
I can't even begin to think what it must be like to work on a low-budget movie at night with shoots spread across three years. Wow. I had kind of a mixed response to this one. I really liked the directing, even if it wasn't the kind of movie I expected from Johnnie To.
Simon Yam was the man as always. Soundtrack was really annoying. Overall I guess I didn't know what to expect but what I got was similar to a dark and slow moving Japanese crime movie, of the type that Miike and Kitano have done much better.
So it was a bit of a surprise seeing something like this come out of Hong Kong.
