Review of Promised Land (2012) by Lincoln K — 05 Jan 2013
A very disappointing film. Actually I was into it for most of the film until the end, which I absolutely hated. Yes I know this is basically an anti-fracking movie and they have to get their political messages in but the tonal shift in Matt Damon's character towards the end really were not plausible.
.. In fact the whole film he did not act like the hot shot guy that they set him up as in the beginning... is this really the first time he was ever challenged in one of these towns? Do they not set him up with counter arguments for the environmental claims? Damon is very unconvincing.
Frances McDormand on the other hand is terrific, she was completely convincing without any false notes.
