Review of Prince of Darkness (1987) by Tom T — 24 Nov 2010
Well what can I say other than what kind of drugs was John Carpenter taking when he directed this?! Prince Of Darkness centers around a group of science students who are given the task of gathering all information about a large mysterious jar containing a green liquid hidden in a run down church.
The substance is believed to be the last remains of Satan himself. One disaster leads to another and all hell breaks loose. Although the setup of the film is good and well written the actual dark events that are meant to take place, don't.
Apart from a load of people spitting Satan's remains at each other and a girl transforming into something out of The Exorcist, Prince of Darkness is all mouth and no bollocks. If you're after a really disappointing horror film that never really gets going and will leave you feeling deflated at the end, you'll love this.
One of the worst films that Carpenter has done!
