Like Titanic, we all know (generally) how the movie will end because history has already written the plot for us. It doesn't make it any any less sad. But sad in a good way. "Awwwww"sad, not "Boo hoo" sad.
Its a love story that will have you cheering for all the good guys even though you already know that history has already written (and told) their fates. If there is such a thing as "satisfyingly sad", this movie is it.
It's not necessarily a tear jerker but it is a heart jerker.
