Full of wit and exceptional use of CGI to capitalise its adventure scale, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is a good enough film and doesn't need to go into an epic scale, though it tries hard to.
Johnny Depp is absolutely fantastic, but his performance is put against iffy performances from Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom. Still, his scenes with Geoffrey Rush are relieving and the film features great production values.
