Review of Phantasm (1979) by Noah W — 18 May 2009
I don't see why everyone loves this movie so much. I'm not a huge fan of movies that don't make sense and offer no explanation but I'll go with it if the shit they present is interesting.
Unfortunately, there are just way too many slow spots and scenes of shit not happening for me to stay glued to the screen. The cop out ending was also pretty stupid and didn't help matters. The music was great, though.
I liked Reggie and Jody and the tall man made for a creepy villain. It's just a shame that there wasn't a better plotted story to give these guys something interesting to do. I guess they were going for a nightmarish feel to the whole thing and while they somewhat accomplish that, the thing about nightmares is I don't care to remember them.
The same goes for this movie.
