People need to realize when this movie came out. And when they do, and on what kind of a budget to make it, they will realize this movie is in fact a masterpiece. And it still holds up well even today.
The only thing that seems to ruin it for people is when they watch the other movies in the series. They need to understand that Phantasm was never meant to be anything other than a Stand Alone movie. And when you look at it in that light, the movie is great.
