Review of Pather Panchali (1955) by Jordan T — 28 Jun 2009
A heartbreaking film that starts and ends powerfully, but sadly meanders throughout the middle portion. The story of a young boy, Apu, and the hardships his mother faces as the bread winner isn't winning as much bread as they would like.
His sister, Durga, doesn't help matters by being a habitual thief of the neighbor's papayas. Much of this, of course, depends on the rest of the Apu trilogy, which I can't wait to finish.
