Review of Palindromes (2005) by Arash X — 17 Jan 2009
The most interesting film I've seen in a long time, I liked this director a lot before but he took things to a whole new level in Palindromes most noticably in the unusual style of casting he employed.
Renowned for tackling difficult and controversial subject matter Solondz yet again manages to make a film that takes things like abortion, paedophilia and Christian fundamentalism and somehow makes us laugh out loud at the bleakest and innappropriate times.
There is a basic belief flowing throughout the story which is cleverly brought out toward the end in the dialogue, this really made me think. You might find yourself having to remind yourself that it is just a film and the idea flowing through it is just a perspective, it certainly made me think.
