Review of Our Souls at Night (2017) by Calvin H — 24 Oct 2017
Really enjoyed this film. Wonderfully acted - especially redford. It hurt to watch in places because the leading performances were so authentic! I could feel the loneliness in their characters, most notably a few late scenes which mirror those at the start.
The soundtrack worked wonderfully also. I really enjoyed their interaction and relationship with the young boy, but really could have done without the father - I just didn't really understand what his character brought to thr table.
Besides that my only real upset with this film is the ending, which didn't fully satisfy the romantic in me. But perhaps this was more true to life... either way, a simply beautiful film.
