Review of Opera (1987) by Ethan Y — 03 Nov 2008
All at once this is one of Argento's most brutally sadistic and hauntingly beautiful films. His themes of voyeurism are daring and intrusive, and he accompanies the threats of his killer with an equally cruel camera, poking and tearing at places his audience shouldn't feel welcome in.
Cristina Masillach is wonderful as Betty, the performer and audience to the horrific murders, and it is also nice to see a bit role for Argento favorite Daria Nicolodi.
