Review of Opera (1987) by Andy P — 11 Mar 2008
This film is absolute madness. I'm a huge fan of Argento, and I think this is one of my favorites of his. His trademark inspired deaths and colorful lighting is all there, including his use of camera work.
I think his films contain some of the most inspired camera work you'll see in a film, with huge camera moves and swirling 360 degree shots. I can only imagine how insane it would be to be the camera operator for one of his films, and this one, I could imagine, would be difficult.
The story, for the most part, is uninspired, and the ending is a tad bit odd (putting it gently) but that's not why you're here. If you've seen and enjoyed any of Dario Argento's films, you'll know what to expect, but I personally think this is one of his better ones.
