Review of One Missed Call (2003) by Ruby R — 13 Jan 2008
I liked this film. Japanese horror films focus about the dead somehow coming back-- to get you to pay attention to them and how they died. This movie made in 2003 does just that just like all of the rest of the ones such as: Dark Water, Grudge.
I wanted to see this even though subtitled to see how it compared to the American version made this year which I have not yet seen. I watched all of the Japanese versions of different movies first to compare with the American versions.
I have to say that American movie are more graphic. This one has spooky parts but nothing made you sit at the edge of your seat. At the end always a rather sad story of someone who was victimized and is an unrest state.
The missed call on the cell phone is a different take on the many methods of announcing whose dying next but all in all if you don't mind subtitles, it was quite interesting.
