Review of On the Waterfront (1954) by Yoni G — 29 Jul 2010
I came into this movie hearing that extremely high standards, probably the highest standards for a movie that people have talked about besides the Godfather. So before I started watching it, I wasn't sure if it was possible to complete all these expectations.
After I finally sat down and watched it; I was surprised. This is easily one of the best movies I have ever seen in my entire life for many reasons. FIrst of all, Marlon Brando gives an outstanding performance to the point that you can even forget that he is acting; not just doing.
Second, the camerawork and the way everything is put together in this movie is amazing, duely credited by the brilliant directing work by Ellia Kazan. Third, is a trait that only some movies can hold up; Every scene in this movie is completely worth watching, and are compelling to watch.
Fourth, there was no flaws in this movie; even critics agree. Fifth, it is easily one of the most powerful ever made. Kazan takes what could be quite a normal scene in any other movie, and turns it into something much more powerful.
And finally, not only was Marlon Brando amazing in this movie, every single other actor in this movie was too, I don't even have to name them. Overall, this is an amazing and powerful cinematical masterpiece that is a must see for anyone.
