Review of On the Town (1949) by Amanda F — 25 Oct 2010
I would give this film an 87%. I watched it in my "MOVIE MUSICALS" class and really enjoyed it. The music and lyrics of the songs were great and catchy, but what really stood out were the characters and the filming itself.
This was one of the first musicals to be shot on location in NYC. Parts of it were shot all around the city and the music was added in later. What made this so new was the fact that it actually worked.
The cast of this was great as well, and the story was simple and likable. A fun cute film that I would gladly watch again.
