Review of O'Lucky Man (2003) by Kathryn Q — 03 Dec 2008
What an incredible film; people just don't dare to create films like this anymore. This was ahead of its time and so ambitious, and although not without its imperfections this adds to its appeal, what a beautiful, powerful work of art! The cast are for the most part excellent, Malcolm McDowell is WONDERFUL as usual.
Lindsay Anderson, what a genius. The satirical wit of Sherwin & McDowell's (often uncredited even though it was very much a collaborative effort) script is SPOT ON. Have rambled enough about how much I love this without saying all that much about it, but if you like your cinema to be an experience, consist of multiple layers and basically take the piss in general, then watch this.
..stay a lucky man!
