Review of Dead Man Down (2013) by Kathryn Q — 18 Mar 2013
I saw the new movie "Dead Man Down" starring cutie Colin Farrell. It also stars Noomi Rapace, who played Lisabeth in the Swedish version of "Girl With a Dragon Tattoo." The director was the same for both movies.
It's only getting middling reviews, but I liked it. Much of it was filmed in Center City Philadelphia (especially Walnut Street) and the Main Line, even though it was supposed to be NYC.
Revenge is the motivation for both characters, who each have back stories.
There are a lot of bad guys, including Jamaicans, Albanians and Terrence Howard. (Because its hard out here for a pimp.).
The Inquirer's reviewer made fun of some of the dialogue, including a lot of talk about Tupperware. But I didn't care. Colin Farrell acts well with his eyes and face. He stares soulfully, looks longingly and peers penetratingly. He could do a whole movie in which he ony talks about Tupperware and I would watch.
