Review of Now, Voyager (1942) by Hollis G — 15 Mar 2009
Probably my favorite Bette Davis movie ever. I love how when she's the unattractive spinster she basically just has glasses and massive eyebrows. Again, this has Claude Rains in it, but this time he's just a boring psychiatrist.
I love the chemistry between Bette and Paul Henried. Sure it's a bit melodramatic, but it's romantic and tragic and you completely identify with Charlotte Vale in her quest to establish a life for herself.
And the scenes with Charlotte and Tina are so sweet, it reminds you of how it felt to be an awkward pre-teen. Break out the tissues for this movie.
