The very first of the "make-over movies", where a woman with frizzy hair, big glasses and unplucked eyebrows is clearly just waiting to be tweezed and slither into a cocktail gown.
Over the top melodrama that is vindicated by superb acting by all concerned, and truly inspired cinematography.
