Review of Non-Stop (2013) by Diyar G — 04 Jun 2016
Liam Neeson in a plane playing an Air Marshal, I think I'm gonna hire him as a bodyguard! All jokes aside here's the positives/negatives.
Positives:
1. Liam Neeson is awesome, enough said. But in all seriousness, you care about his character throughout the entire film and he displays this masculinity about his character, and he definitely fits this type of role. Julianne Moore was also good too.
2. The tone; this film is very thrilling and pretty suspenseful. I was glued to the screen for the most part and I cared about everything coming out of everyone's mouth. I was also invested in finding the bad guy and I had confidence that Liam Neeson's character knew what he was doing despite all the negative stuff happening to him.
Negatives:
1. This film has a tonal shift once the final act happens and things go down. Before the final act this film was very claustrophobic and very grounded and thrilling. Once the final act happens it turns into this cliche action movie, especially a scene with slow motion and stuff that happens that make no sense. Despite all of that I still did enjoy it.
2. The final act felt tact on and I was kind of expecting more, however I was still invested.
3. It is kind of cliche, nothing about it is really original. It does kind of copy off other films but it is to be expected with most action movies these days.
Overall:
Non-Stop is a claustrophobic, thrilling and entertaining time. The premise and such is quite familiar but you'll probably have a good time and Liam Neeson definitely kicks ass as usual. Check it out.
