Review of The Wolverine (2013) by Diyar G — 20 Apr 2016
The Wolverine was surprisingly really good. I had fun watching this movie and it has a intriguing plot and really good action.
What I liked was the way they handled Wolverine in this film. X-Men Origins: Wolverine was atrocious, a terrible excuse for a film and it wasn't truly a Wolverine focused film. The Wolverine however actually gives Wolverine more depth and the result is an awesome flick! The location of this film is breathtaking. I love Japanese culture and some day I want to visit the country, The Wolverine takes great advantage of its location and really shows its beauty here.
The action is a lot of fun and yes I thought the final act was pretty cool, even though it was really cheesy which I will get into but overall the action is really well handled and pretty brutal for a PG-13 film... Hugh Jackman yet again is perfect as Wolverine and his performance is of course awesome as well as some other performances from the other characters for the most part.
Negatives; Wasn't a huge fan of Viper, she just wasn't very compelling or interesting so I didn't care for her. The final act is pretty cheesy and is a huge shift of tone too. Last but not least this film is a little too long, which did cause the film to drag at times.
Overall The Wolverine is a really good film that's a lot of fun and the stand-alone Wolverine film that I was waiting for! Check it out, you might be disappointed that they did certain things wrong and such. But I honestly don't care, this film was a lot of fun and nothing will change my enjoyment for it.
