Review of Nil by Mouth (1997) by Imola L — 30 Jun 2007
As the title suggests, this is an unremittingly bleak portrayal of people who remain largely invisible to the 'mainstream,' seen as an underclass whose lives are characterised by causual violence and criminality.
Based on Gary Oldman's life growing up in South London, it contains stark and almost too realistic performances from Ray Winstone and Kathy Burke in the lead roles. Defintely not for the faint-hearted.
