Review of New York, New York (1977) by Paul B — 09 Sep 2006
It's no secret that I dislike Scorsese movies. This one is actually bad though. It's basically three hours worth of Liza and De Niro fighting, getting back together again only to fight and get back together again while they are both trying to make it in the music biz. When I threw it in, I thought it was only two hours long and I wanted to tear my eyes out after the first hour and when I realized that it was going past the two hour mark I wanted to cry.
De Niro's performance in this is close to the one he gave in Raging Bull (same type of character) and the sets are nice while the title song is a classic. Please consider skipping this one since so very little in it is worth your time.
I'll never watch it again.
