Review of New York, New York (1977) by Cale W — 09 Sep 2011
De Niro's caustic masculinity just isn't suited to a movie musical. The opening and finale are strong enough to make me wish that Scorsese had played the whole film as unironic tribute. The middle is nearly unwatchable.
