Review of New York, New York (1977) by Brian R — 25 Dec 2009
I thoroughly enjoyed this film, mainly because of Robert De Niro's performance and the chemistry between him and Liza Minnelli. They're both wonderful and absolutely delightful. New York, New York is a fantastic film from the legendary Martin Scorsese. It tells the story of a saxophone player and a young singer who meet and embark upon a strained and rocky romance, even as their careers begin a long uphill climb. New York, New York is a sensational romantic drama that I loved from beginning to end. Its a terrific film with spectacular performances from a stellar cast. Its one of Scorsese's most enjoyable and entertaining films. This film is an American masterpiece and one of the greatest films ever made. Its just really fun.
New York, New York is simply a classic. Martin Scorsese is the only director I can think of who has never made a below average film or even an average film. All of his films are phenomenal and this one is no exception. De Niro and Minnelli are simply perfect. This film is a work of genius. New York, New York is a spectacular and breathtaking film that is just a delight to watch.
