Review of Network (1976) by Matt B — 27 Sep 2013
I had always intended to watch this movie, but never got around to it for some reason. I wish I had before now. This is one of the most poignant, biting and hysterical satires I've ever seen. It's also proven to be spot on in it's criticism of the negative side of television(things that are rampant on cable AND network news shows today).
The screenplay is absolutely perfect. The dialogue grabs you, squeezes hard and only let's you go when it's time to move on to the next thing, and then it grabs you again. The great acting and directing make it all come together for a very unique experience that wasn't quite what I was expecting, but in a good way.
If you are interested in a smart film that will make you think about that boob tube you look at all day, check this movie out. I doubt you will be disappointed.
