The most comprehensive alegory to the American life represented in one artistic work, film or otherwise. In Nashville, like in the USA, the life is very messy, emotionally disturbing and unfurfilling. All that there is, and remains, is ambition and the music. When the music comes on, all suddenly seems perfect, beautiful and glorious, but then it dissappears again, only to.

Re-expose the deep spiritual wounds. Also a political movie: "We must be doing something right to last 200 years" one character sings, but is that enough? Can we not do far better? The movie drones on without any sort of positive catharsis, while everything continues to deteriorate, just like the life and political discouse of our country does.
