Review of Nashville (1975) by Michael B — 13 Jul 2013
I cannot say I particularly loved this one. Everything I read beforehand from the critics really touted this movie as genius and complex and such. I think it actually might be, and I can definitely see it predicting the celeb worship and the evolution of politics into its own brand of showbiz, yet I just could not get properly into the movie.
I'm not sure the issue for me was the overlapping dialogue, or the improv, or the music or all things combined but the next time you're suffering from insomnia forget chewing valerian root, just sit down to this snoozer.
The only entertaining thing about it was seeing the ensemble cast and spotting some of the actors when they looked so much younger, like jeff goldblum, henry gibson, scott glenn and keith carradine, but that wears thin over 2 1/2 hours.
