Review of Mulberry Street (2006) by Ronald S — 30 Sep 2008

Even though it's a zombie movie at heart, Mulberry Street feels fresh enough that the viewer doesn't think they are seeing yet another mindless living dead flick. Refreshingly the characters are not stupid, and react and behave in manners you would expect given their abrupt, violent, and disgusting introduction of uncontrollable circumstances into their humdrum, run of the mill, safe lives.

I feared this movie would deteriorate into a commentary over the war and social problems in the States when I saw one of the characters was an Iraq Vet, happily I can report this is not really the case.

So far one of the better After Dark films I've seen this year. Hopefully we'll get to see more out of Mickle.
