Review of Mr. & Mrs. Smith (1941) by Andy B — 24 Nov 2009
(**1/2) Mr. and Mrs. Smith is a funny movie based on an absurd concept and even more absurd characters. But I guess that's why it's a screwball comedy. Both the main characters are caricatures of spousal emotion, and yet both have unique qualities.
While it isn't really in league with other Hitchcock films, it is an enjoyable watch anyhow. It represents a complete picture of what a screwball comedy is, but if you want to see what one SHOULD be, go watch His Girl Friday.
