Review of Mr. & Mrs. Smith (1941) by Jessicaann D — 01 Jun 2011
This so-so rom-com about a couple who realize their marriage was never legal doesn't have much going for it, other than one amazing drunk scene. Jeff (Gene Raymond), who has never drank before, is told to drink to fight off a cold and he gives one of the great drunk performances I have ever seen.
It's strange that this was directed by Hitchcock as there is little artistry in the vision, but I always love Carole Lombard so I enjoyed it.
